Our work for Prospectus Strategy Consultants
The Chairperson?s Guide
18 April 2008

The Chairperson’s Guide, a recently published book written by David Duffy of Prospectus, was launched in the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham in April 2008. This is the second book written by David. His Practical Guide to Corporate Governance being published two years ago. This new book addresses the many responsibilites and opportunities afforded in chairing a Board of Directors.
Our design and layout for this publication is a development of our work on his first book. It is very understated to reflect the serious subject matter. We were very particular about ensuring a suitably high level of typographic detail, not only to establish a clear hierarchy of information within the text, but also to establish the appropriate tone. We introduced a corporate green as the accent colour throughout to differentiate this publication from the first corporate governance book. Both follow an overall Prospectus trade dress but there is a clear distinction between the book covers through our use of colour.
The book was well-received and looks set to become the key reference book for anyone who take on the role of Chairperson.
A positive result

We designed a document to explain and illustrate the key findings of an independent survey of the higher education in Ireland which was carried out by Prospectus in 2007. The survey, entitled ‘Lead or Follow? The Global Challenge for Irish Higher Education’, questioned a range of stakeholders from within the management ranks of third-level institutions, as well as industry representatives, civil servants and philanthropists.
The results were arranged into six sections each with its own colour reference and summary of findings. The findings were also illustrated graphically within each section and key quotes from stakeholders were interspersed throughout the document.
The report received significant press coverage on publication.
A powerful insight
18 January 2007

Prospectus Strategy Consultants' business is about helping their clients to think and plan for the future. They have just published an informative document which gives a serious overview of key business topics for 2007; including healthcare, retail banking and corporate governance. Working in partnership with them, we designed a publication format which reflected the tone of the content. Presenting it at a high level was crucial and so we created a minimalist and understated design. A sophisticated, muted colour palette is used sparingly throughout the publication which has been printed on an uncoated paper to complete the desired positioning. We also came up with the title 9 topics: 9 views and helped to craft the editorial direction of the publication by suggesting copy styles and article structure. 9 topics: 9 views was waiting on people's desk on return to work at the start of the new year, a timely insight for the year ahead.
The management of management

When David Duffy, MD of Prospectus, starting drafting his ideas for a comprehensive practical guide book on Corporate Governance in Ireland he came to BFK to help him realise his vision. Working in partnership with Prospectus over 18 months we have overseen the complete design process for this book. The result is a handsome hardback volume, which presents large amounts of information in a clear and accessible format. The book was launched by An Tánaiste, Mary Harney and is an invaluable reference for Irish directors and senior management on this increasingly relevant topic.
