Aer Lingus marked 75 years in business with a celebratory evening in Farmleigh on Friday 27 May, which was attended by high profile guests including the President of Ireland. We were delighted to be asked to design a suite of items especially for the event.

We created an elegant visual style for this unique event that incorporated archival imagery from vintage posters, portraying Aer Lingus as the premier Irish airline throughout the decades. Many designers and artists have contributed to the Aer Lingus advertising library and it was a fitting tribute to the airline to revive these classic images for such an appropriate occasion.

We designed a comprehensive suite of event items which included valet parking tags, cloakroom tickets, menus, place name cards, table name cards, table plans, event signage and gift tags. All of the guests were given a gift bag on the night that included a commemorative folder, designed by BFK, containing high quality litho-prints of five vintage posters suitable for framing.

This unique project has been one of the most interesting and novel challenges we have yet worked on with Aer Lingus. We were delighted to play our part by combining the best of the airline’s visual heritage with contemporary design.
