Our work for Independent News & Media
Independent News & Media PLC (‘INM’) is a leading newspaper and media group managing gross assets of €187.6m and employing approximately 1,000 people.
Today INM owns market-leading newspapers in Ireland and Northern Ireland, with a strong and growing digital presence. It is also the largest newspaper contract printer and wholesale newspaper distributor on the island of Ireland. At the time BFK advised INM the group also had extensive newspaper interests in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Our role was to advise on developing INM's international brand strategy and to create a brand identity for the group itself that would also incorporate a brand architecture to facilitate ownership branding of a range of established overseas titles including The Independent and Independent on Sunday in the UK, The Star, Pretoria News, Cape Times and other titles in South Africa and newspapers in Australia, New Zealand and India.
We successfully created the global brand identity system for Independent News and Media plc which is in use today. This identity system incorporated a master brand identity and an owner brand architecture that linked and unified the brand expression of the group across its many titles and markets.
We also produced brand guidelines to drive consistent management of the brand in conjunction with the established local titles across the group's various overseas markets.
